Developing the Royal Castle Area in Warsaw

Investor:
Warsaw City Hall
Date of realization
2003 - project was interrupted
Design Team:
Czesław Bielecki, Iwona Kowerska-Ciecierska, Maria Twardowska, Monika Rembikowska, Artur Chocianowski, Jarosław Gozdalik

This is a project, which deals with the development of the area adjacent to the Royal Castle. Its concept assumes the recreation of Warsaw's historical monuments (waterside Royal Gardens and a quay for boats), building new objects (Gallery on the Staircase, an underground parking lot, a viewing terrace, a green-house) and communicating all the local buildings and sites (Royal Castle, Pod Blachą Palace, Mariensztat, Gallery on the Staircase, Royal Gardens). The project accentuates the landscape of the Vistula escarpment and singles out the Castle exposing its importance in the city's panorama.
