House in Podgórz near Kazimierz on the Vistula

Investor:
Wojciech Włodarczyk
Date of realization
1987-1991
Design Team:
Czesław Bielecki, Jerzy Heymer

A private residence situated on top of a hill towering over the village of Podgórz near Kazimierz on the Vistula. The most important inspirations for this work were: a gate with a belfry from a nearby church and drawings by Stanislaw Noakowski. Thanks to the differentiated size of the windows, despite the small dimension of the building, an effect of monumentalism, weight and bulk has been achieved. Owing to abutments supporting the house and a steep driveway the building seems to resemble a castle tower on a hill.
