The 240th Anniversary of the National Theatre Installation

Investor:
National Theatre in Warsaw
Date of realization
2005
Design Team:
Czesław Bielecki, Lenka Cederbaum
Collaborators:
Tomasz Zieliński

This installation, located at the corner of Królewska and Marszalkowska streets, commemorates the 240th anniversary of the National Theatre in Warsaw.

The entire installation, located on a round, brick, elevated stage, is composed of: a memorial rock, which marks the location of the nation's first theater; an amphitheatrically composed display of theatre posters; as well as a constructed frame that mirrors a theatrical curtain frame and displays additional banners. Those who pass by the installation view it from the perspective of both actors as well as audience members.
